Michael is the founder and managing director of GTT Group, a global patent asset transaction and analysis firm. As an entrepreneur, Michael’s startups have been acquired by Softbank and Hewlett Packard. Words that Michael lives by: “No mud, no lotus. No lotus, no mud” (Thich Nhat Hahn).
Masa is the creative visionary behind Ideaship. An entrepreneur and quiet maverick, Masa created the business model and originated the Ideaship concept. His responsibilities include due diligence, investee company development and value creation. Prior to Ideaship, Masa was the Head of IP Strategy for the Audio, Video, and Communication (AVC) Technology and Products Division of Panasonic. Andrew is a managing director of GTT Group and leads consulting, brokerage, and sale side M&A business units. Andrew has led major transaction advisories including AOL and the negotiation and completion of the highest price paid in the last 20 years for a single patent family. One of Andrew’s favorite quotes is from John Wooden, “Whatever you do in life, surround yourself with smart people who’ll argue with you.”
Kaz provides operational guidance, investee company development, and due diligence support services. A practitioner of gentle wisdom and kindness, Kaz shepherded Ideaship from a concept to business reality and supports daily operations. Formerly responsible for Panasonic’s semiconductor patent portfolio, Kaz has extensive experience in patent licensing, litigation, and monetization. He has been the internal lead in ITC matters and is considered an expert in patent valuation. Words that Kaz lives by: “Ichi-go ich-e (Treasure every meeting, for it will never recur).”
Alan serves as General Counsel for Ideaship. He helped architect Ideaship’s formation and is responsible for transactional and intellectual property matters. He oversees a variety of processes including innovation catalog development and implementation. His patent expertise covers information technology and life sciences including mobile communications, software, and mechanical technologies. While at Knobbe Martens, Alan advised clients on patent strategy related to medical devices and drug discovery technologies, and defended generic pharmaceutical manufacturers in patent litigation matters. Words that Alan lives by: “Well, I’m a professional. I am serious, and I’m a professional” (Wayne Jarvis, Esq.).
Hiro interfaces with investee companies and provides due diligence, contractual, and strategic support. As a co-architect of Ideaship, Hiro’s work has been instrumental to the development and realization of Ideaship’s early success. He continues to provide internal operational support and external investee company development. As a member of the Audio, Visual, and Communications division at Panasonic, Hiro has led third-party partnerships to increase Panasonic’s market share and profitability. He understands that patent strategy is integral to innovation and sustainable growth. Part strategist, legal expert, and business lead, Hiro has successfully navigated IP licensing, monetization, and large scale acquisition. Chief Architect of Global Technology Transfer Group’s proprietary Patent Search Platform, Evan directs the company’s patent data analysis and visualization platform and provides strategic patent analysis and valuation support. He holds a B.S. in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Southern California, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Words that Evan lives by: “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change” (Stephen Hawking).
Byron serves as the Finance Director of Ideaship and oversees finance, accounting, and investee company monitoring. He is also responsible for due diligence, and providing early stage accounting and financing support for investee companies. Before joining GTT Group and becoming a team member of Ideaship, Byron was a Senior Management Analyst for BearingPoint. He holds a B.S. in International Business Management from Brigham Young University and a M.S. in Financial Analysis from Portland State University. Robert C. Bell
Robert has coached hundreds of founders, startups, and executives from inception to acquisition to post public offering. Rob has been there from the napkin sketches to companies doing $5B in annual revenue. He has been a founder, co-founder, adviser, partner, coach, consultant, and investor. Robert has leveraged his background in entrepreneurship, management, and engineering to bring a transparent and direct results-oriented approach to starting and growing companies. Words that Robert lives by: “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart” (Helen Keller”).
Ian provides operational support to the Ideaship team. An active early stage founder himself, Ian leverages his project management and software development experience to assist Ideaship in providing founders with mission essential services. Ian holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Oregon. Words that Ian lives by: “He who says he can and he who says he can’t are both usually right” (Confucius).
