Strategic Venture Capital
Ideaship Fund is a venture capital fund that invests in startups creating something truly novel and patentable. Our team of patent experts and former founders support portfolio companies with patent strategy, claim development, and curation in exchange for equity.
We are a founder-friendly fund using our extensive expertise to align patent strategy with business strategy to achieve meaningful valuation and liquidity premiums. We are actively deploying our third fund.
Ideaship is an affiliate of GTT Group, a global patent strategy and brokerage firm based in Portland, Oregon.

Patents build enterprise value
Across stages, patent companies raise capital at notably higher valuations than non-patent companies. From 2011 and 2022, patent-seeking companies accounted for 79% of VC exit value but only 24% of VC exit count, according to PitchBook.

Patent Catalyst
We help startups articulate, protect and curate their core patent, creating a strong foundation upon which to build a company. Founder-friendly is just the starting point; we live for inventors.
Fundraising
With your company’s core patent strategy in place and its value verified, we’ll help you raise the funds you need to grow. As a strategic partner through the life of the company, we can offer support for fundraising strategy, investor introductions, or follow-on investment.
Scaling
Patent portfolio strategy, roadmapping, and curation is a long-term commitment and Ideaship is there throughout. As your revenue grows and you build out your team, lean on us for guidance on IP budgeting, claims, and referrals to keep your portfolio healthy and strategic. Your valuation will thank you.
Acquisition and IPO
Eventually such care and diligence cultivating the company’s core IP assets throughout the entrepreneurial journey pays off. Carefully curated patent portfolios generate meaningfully higher valuations in successive funding rounds and at exit.
Founders
Ideaship invests across the US and in a wide range of industry sectors. The common denominator is novelty. We invest in founders creating something truly unique in the world, with the business acumen to commercialize and build a great company on it.
