As an early-stage tech startup, we are rich with innovation but short on cash. Partnering with Ideaship was crucial to moving our company forward, ensuring we steward our cash flow well without compromising intellectual property assets. In addition to providing us access to top-tier patent attorneys typically not accessible to early-stage startups, Ideaship provided mentorship, counsel, investor connections, and their involvement was key to securing an exclusive license to university-owned IP with investor-friendly terms. I would and do recommend Ideaship to any early-stage tech startup building an IP portfolio.
Our partnership with Ideaship has exceeded my expectations in many ways. They have delivered as a strategic resource for understanding and guiding our patent roadmap, but also offered mentorship, networking, and friendship along the way.
Ideaship is compelling because they are focused on patent development that creates enterprise value for go to market, funding and eventual liquidity whether it be acquisition or initial public offering.
We help startups articulate, protect and curate their core patent, creating a strong foundation upon which to build a company. Founder-friendly is just the starting point; we live for inventors.
With your company’s core patent strategy in place and its value verified, we’ll help you raise the funds you need to grow. As a strategic partner through the life of the company, we can offer support for fundraising strategy, investor introductions, or follow-on investment.
Patent portfolio strategy, roadmapping, and curation is a long-term commitment and Ideaship is there throughout. As your revenue grows and you build out your team, lean on us for guidance on IP budgeting, claims, and referrals to keep your portfolio healthy and strategic. Your valuation will thank you.
Acquisition and IPO
Eventually such care and diligence cultivating the company’s core IP assets throughout the entrepreneurial journey pays off. Carefully curated patent portfolios generate meaningfully higher valuations in successive funding rounds and at exit.
Patents build enterprise value
Across stages, patent companies raise capital at notably higher valuations than non-patent companies. From 2011 and 2022, patent-seeking companies accounted for 79% of VC exit value but only 24% of VC exit count, according to PitchBook.
Ideaship invests across the US and in a wide range of industry sectors. The common denominator is novelty. We invest in founder inventors creating something truly unique in the world, with the business acumen to commercialize and build a great company on it.
